Strawberry Tips

Look gently under the leaves. Some of the nicest berries are there!

Place berries gently in basket.

Cover with a towel and refrigerate berries.

Don't wash the berries until you are ready to use them.

Hull the berries after gently washing them.

If handled carefully, berries will keep 3 days in the refrigerator.

If you are freezing berries, do it as soon as possible to keep all the quality.

To freeze the berries whole: wash, hull, (gently toss in sugar if you like), scatter berries on a cookie sheet and freeze. When frozen, put in freezer bags.

Another way to freeze berries is to wash, hull and slice the berries. Add sugar and mix gently. Put in rigid freezer containers. Leave 1/2 inch head space and freeze.
